Dermatopathology

Dermatopathology is a specialized pathology of the skin. Some cases include melanoma, and other skin conditions, immunologic and infectious diseases. It is imperative to microscopically interpret a biopsy to select the appropriate treatments or procedures.

A dermatopathologist is a highly trained physician who specializes in diagnosing skin conditions or disorders under a microscope. This specialty combines both dermatology (diagnosing and treating skin, hair and nail diseases) and pathology (identifying diseases microscopically).
