MicroLaserPeel

The Sciton Microlaser Peel™ has been successful in treating such skin conditions as fine lines and wrinkles, scars, acne scars, and pigmentary problems. The process is individually tailored to the patient's condition. The procedure is designed for people who expect better results than microdermabrasion or light chemical peels but have little time for a prolonged healing process.

Process: A topical ointment anesthesia is applied in the office to anesthetize the skin that will be treated. Dr. Bark then uses the Erbium laser's high energy to remove the superficial layer of skin -- first a virtually painless pass with the laser to remove the thin, protective dead layer. This allows the next step to proceed rapidly and painlessly, following the application of the anesthetic ointment.

Recovery: Patient recovery from the Sciton Microlaser Peel™ is rapid. Once the procedure is complete, patients can drive themselves home. Symptoms immediately following the procedure resemble a sunburn, with mild weeping, and then peeling on the second day and redness fading after the first two or three days. Patients are usually able to return to work within several days with make-up. Discomfort can easily be managed with a pain reliever.

Results: Men and women experience smoother, vibrant skin following a Microlaser Peel™. The skin has improved texture, decreased pore size and a reduction of some fine lines. The procedure can be used in conjunction with our special Skin Secrets skin care programs to maintain healthy, vibrant skin.

This advanced Sciton laser skin rejuvenating treatment precisely removes the outer most layer of skin. This removal of the dead layer and the thin layers of the epidermis helps smooth the skins surface while blending irregular pigmented aging spots at the same time. The MicroLaserPeel™ requires little down time, usually 3-4 days for your skin to heal resulting in smoother skin, smaller pores, and more even skin tone. A series of these gentle peels are as effective as other more invasive laser treatments, but without the weeks of healing time and the risks of permanent pigment loss.

Now you can have younger looking, healthier feeling skin with a popular new treatment - the Contour™ MicroLaserPeel™.

Answers to your Questions

What is the MicroLaserPeel?

It is an intra-epidermal laser peel that precisely ablates the outermost layers of the skin. The procedure is individually tailored to the nature of the condition to be corrected.

Skin Conditions such as: wrinkles, scars, acne scars, keratoses, or pigmentary problems have been very successfully treated with a MicroLaserPeel.

Who Should Consider a MicroLaserPeel?

If you are looking for more than microdermabrasion or light chemical peels, and have little time for a prolonged healing process, then the MicroLaserPeel was designed for you.

How is the MicroLaserPeel different from Microdermabrasion?

Generally, microdermabrasion only removes the stratum corneum (10 microns).
The MicroLaserPeel is a partial-to-full epidermal peel (20-50 microns) and is performed with topical anesthetic. Because this procedure ablates deeper into the epidermis, it is the perfect step between microdermabrasion and full skin resurfacing.

How many MicroLaserPeels can be done?

Typically, the procedure is repeated 2-4 times, spaced 6-8 weeks apart, but many peels may be done to achieve the desired result.

What can you expect?

You will experience smoother, healthier, more vibrant skin, with a significant, immediate change in skin texture and tightness as compared to microdermabrasion.

How long is the healing process?

Healing takes 3- 4 days. The procedure can be performed on a Thursday or Friday, so you can return to work the following Monday. Symptoms immediately following the procedure resemble sunburn, with minor sloughing on the second day. Redness will begin to fade by the third day, and be easily covered by makeup on the fourth day.

What should I know about pre- and post-treatment?

We will provide you with very detailed pre- and post-treatment information.
