Your Mohs Surgery Consultation

When a patient receives a diagnosis of skin cancer that needs Mohs surgery, the patient is then scheduled for a consultation appointment with Dr. Samuel Pruden. These appointments are available on Friday mornings.

During the consultation, Dr. Pruden assesses the site, reviews the medical history with the patient, and discusses the procedure with the patient. Questions regarding treatment will be answered, and the patient is given any necessary pre-operative instructions.

Some patients, depending on the medications that they take, may be instructed to stop a medication that could potentially increase their bleeding during the Mohs surgery. Some medications require certain labs to be obtained prior to the procedure, and there are some patients who, because of their medical history, may be instructed to take an antibiotic prior to the surgery. All of these instructions are reviewed at the time of the consultation, and the appointment for surgery is then scheduled.
